Seventeen miles off the west of the island of Kauai is Ni’ihau. The island is better known as Hawaii's forbidden island. Since the 1800s, the island has been off-limits to virtually everyone. For the better part of 150 years, no tourists and practically no outsiders were even allowed to step foot on its shores.
