Mother With Newborn Cries When She Sees Under The Blanket
A police officer from Wisconsin received plenty of reactions after a photo of him pulling over a single mother became viral on the internet. He pulled over the single mother of five because he noticed that something wrong was going on in her backseat. While we've heard of countless horrifying stories that start like this, how this tale unfolds is completely unexpected.
Milwaukee Police Department officer Kevin Zimmerman was on patrol on a cold October Saturday when he unexpectedly came across a woman who was driving a car with invalid registration. But upon confronting the woman, Zimmerman was shocked when he saw something in the woman’s backseat. Aside from having a registration problem, Zimmerman saw that the woman had a bigger problem on her backseat.
Kevin Zimmerman was on patrol when he pulled over a woman named Andrella Jackson, driving with invalid registration. When he pulled her over and started to talk to her, he realized that Andrella was facing a bigger problem aside from having an improper registration which made him even more concerned; Jackson was driving with her kids in the backseat. While you might think nothing of it, this caused Zimmerman to be worried.
When Officer Zimmerman began to talk with the woman inside the car, he saw her children jumping and waving from the inside, which made him worry. When he looked inside her car, he saw three very young children, and the backseat didn’t even have car seats for children, which is dangerous in the first place.
Andrella Jackson's predicament made Officer Zimmerman think a lot about her situation. He was more concerned for the safety of Jackson’s two small kids in the backseat without car seats or restraints. Jackson should have been written a ticket for two offenses, The first being the invalid registration, the second was the lack of car seats. But the police officer had different plans.
Jackson went on to tell Officer Zimmerman that she just purchased the car at an auction and hadn’t had a chance to register it yet. As for the car seats, the single mom mentioned that she had other financial concerns, such as bills and getting winter clothes for her children. When Zimmerman heard her story, he immediately felt sympathy for Jackson, and the situation convinced him to help her.
Jackson's story moved officer Zimmerman. He convinced himself that he needed to help Jackson with her problem because he was also a father with three kids. Officer Zimmerman was concerned for the safety of Jackson’s kids as he placed himself in Jackson’s shoes if he was driving his kids without car seats.
After learning Jackson’s side, Officer Zimmerman made up his mind and did the opposite of what most people thought a police officer would do in this situation. Instead of writing Jackson a ticket for her two violations, he ended up doing something else entirely, and then some.
Instead of giving her a ticket for her violations that would have definitely added to Jackson's current financial crisis, Officer Zimmerman decided to let Jackson go. He was being called to provide backup for another emergency. However, before he let Jackson go on her way, he made a very odd request.
After giving Jackson a word of warning about her invalid registration and her lack of car seats, Officer Zimmerman told Jackson that she needed to give her a simple piece of information. He told her that he would do something for her and her kids but needed to know the weights of her two youngest children. Why in the world would he need that? Even though Jackson was unsure of Officer Zimmerman’s odd request, she complied. Little did she know, she was about to receive a surprise from the police officer.
After complying with the officer's odd request, Jackson went on with her day. She must have felt a warm sense of relief that the police officer didn't write her up a ticket. We also believe that she must have pondered Zimmerman's odd request to know her kids' weights. Eventually, everything made sense when Officer Zimmerman showed up at her doorstep later that day.
How would you feel if a police officer randomly showed up at your doorstep? What about a police officer that you met earlier and ended up tracking you down to your home? We'd be terrified! The thing is, Jackson wasn't terrified. She was baffled by the officer's presence but was more mystified by what he was holding.
When Officer Zimmerman showed up outside Jackson’s house, she was surprised and kept saying, ‘What?!’ Then she realized that Officer Zimmerman was there to drop off a couple of gifts! How was this possible? Well, it goes back to that odd request that the officer made. Here's what he did with that information.
After getting the weights of Jackson’s two small children, the generous Officer Zimmerman then went to a local Walmart and spent $75 on car seats for Jackson's youngest children. A few hours later, Officer Zimmerman found himself outside Jackson’s home to drop off his surprise. He even properly installed them inside her vehicle because he was concerned for the safety of her children.
But that’s not the only gift that Officer Zimmerman bought for her kids. Officer Zimmerman also brought her kids books and stickers. Officer Zimmer went the extra mile to keep someone’s family safe. What could have compelled this police officer to do such a thing for a stranger?
Jackson was saved from her financial worries. She told Officer Zimmerman that she needed to buy winter clothes for her kids since it’s almost winter time, but she didn’t have enough money to buy some, even to get a proper registration for their new car. Jackson appreciated Officer Zimmerman’s extra effort.
Jackson and her kids greatly appreciated Officer Zimmerman’s extra effort. They kept on thanking the generous police officer for his gifts. Now Jackson was able to buy coats for her kids. Because Officer Zimmerman helped her buy a pair of new car seats, he helped her save $75 to buy coats and hats and gloves for her children; people soon recognized Officer Zimmerman’s kindness.
Andrella Jackson was surprised and thrilled by her children's gifts from the generous police officer she decided to share on Facebook. In her post, Jackson couldn’t contain her excitement and gratitude towards Officer Zimmerman’s effort to help her and her children and wrote, “My girls were so happy, thank you so much.” The people soon praised Officer Zimmerman’s simple act of kindness.
People soon began to know the act of kindness performed by Officer Zimmerman towards Andrella Jackson and her kids. But Jackson wasn’t the only person who posted Officer Zimmerman’s act of kindness towards her kids. The Milwaukee Police Department posted a shout-out to Officer Zimmerman on their Facebook page, thanking him for going the extra mile beyond his call of duty. The post garnered positive comments from Facebook users.
Officer Zimmerman received positive comments from the people who heard about his generous act. Some even thank him for taking the time and the money to save Jackson’s children when he could have saved his own first. Others greatly admired his act of kindness and thanked him for being a great example to his fellow police force that helped a stranger rather than giving her a ticket.
Despite the recognition and positive comments Officer Zimmerman got from the MPD and strangers, getting praise for his act of kindness wasn’t his main priority. After years of witnessing serious accidents where children were hurt because they weren’t properly secured, Officer Zimmerman’s main priority was to make sure that he could do something to keep it from happening again.
During his 12 years of working in law enforcement, Officer Zimmerman has responded to horrible car accidents which involved young children who weren’t properly secured. Officer Zimmerman told Today that “these scenes stay with you for the rest of your life,” and Officer Zimmerman doesn’t want the little girls to experience something terrible because they didn’t have car seats or weren’t properly secured in their seats.
Police Capt. Boris Turcinovic expressed how proud he was of Zimmerman and all the officers in his district who regularly dipped into their wallets and performed acts of kindness for their community. He said that “cops do things like this all the time,” and it’s not just about giving gifts and performing acts of kindness to those in need. The cops also keep the children safe in moments of crisis. To give you an idea of how important car seats for kids are, take a look at this.
According to Safe Kids Worldwide, the best way to keep children safe in the car is to use the right car seat in the right way. Properly secured car seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71%, and it is also important to have these car seats properly used or correctly installed. What are the important tips about car seat safety that we need to remember?
The first car safety we must remember lies in our purchasing of the right car seat. Your kid needs to ride in the right car seat to prevent them from getting injured in an unexpected crisis. When your child has outgrown that seat, you can always buy another one. There are three types of car seats, and you need to buy the right one for your child.
There are different car seats, and knowing the car seat for your children will save their lives in emergencies. For babies, you need to purchase a rear-facing car seat. This will be your baby’s first car seat and should weigh from 5 to 40 pounds. People buy this type of seat because it is portable and can be used in strollers. What about car seats for little kids?
When your kids reach the age of two, and they’ve outgrown their rear-facing car seat by weight or height, you need to move them to a forward-facing car seat with a harness and use the top tether. If you purchased a convertible car seat, it could be used in a rear-facing position first. If you have one of these, you do not need to buy a new car seat.
If your kid has outgrown their forward-facing seats, move them to a booster seat. These seats allow big kids to use belt-positioning for booster seats (it is often called boosters) to keep them safe inside cars. Children seated in a booster seat in the car's back seat are less likely to get injured in a crash than children who are using a seat belt.
Besides buying a car seat, you will also need to install your child’s car seat properly. You’ll need to decide if you’re going to use the seat belt or the lower anchors to secure it. Both are safe, but you must not use them both at the same time. Once your child uses a forward-facing seat, it is important to tether the seat belt or lower anchors.
Here’s another touching story about two officers from Georgia who decided to help a stranger. Sgt. Nick Boney and Officer Jimmy Wilson of the Gwinnett County Police Department decided to help a little girl and gave the girl’s mother a ride home. But, the two policemen didn’t tell anyone about it and kept their act of kindness a secret until footage of their act was uncovered two months later.
Everyone’s first birthday is important, but a little girl was about to receive something extra special on her first birthday. In January of 2020, a little earlier in the evening, when her mom was walking home, two Gwinnett County police officers pulled up, and their bodycam footage captured their interaction. The police officers asked the unnamed woman where she was heading out in the cold.
Sgt. Nick Boney and Officer Jimmy Wilson were driving through the cold January night when they spotted a woman holding a bouquet of balloons trying to get home. When Sgt. Boney saw the balloons, and he wanted to help her get home quickly. The woman’s home was quite a walk to the nearest neighborhood, but the policemen didn’t want her to walk in the cold.
Aside from giving her a ride home, the policemen also decided to buy the woman a cake before taking her home and celebrating her birthday with her family. When the policemen arrived at the woman’s house, they can be seen talking to a 1-year-old girl in the camera footage. The officers said that they were inspired by the mom and decided to do their part.
When the police officers arrived at the woman’s house, they were greeted by the woman’s children, who were all girls. The officers in the bodycam footage can be seen asking the 1-year-old girl and hugged the woman’s daughter, and they were even invited to join them on the little girl’s special day. The officers even gave her birthday wishes before they bid them goodbye.
Officer Wilson told the Washington Post that his favorite reaction was seeing the little girl and the rest of the kids blow the candle out. He added that all it takes is a little love and compassion for one another. Officer Wilson considers their simple act of kindness as a special moment because he could give that family a memorable experience.
In an interview with the Washington Post, the officers were inspired by the mom’s willingness to do anything for her daughter, and how she raised her children speaks volumes to what kind of a mother she is. Sgt. Boney added that the woman was “obviously” bringing up her girls to know that the police were their friends so that they could trust them.
After helping the mother and her kids celebrate their little sister’s birthday, the officers decided to keep their activities a secret and kept the event from going public until it was discovered during a random audit of police bodycam videos when their supervisor found their interaction with the woman, according to Sgt. Boney, they weren’t looking for credit and helped the woman out of the kindness in their hearts.
Sgt. Boney and Officer Wilson were only doing their part as the police officer who is willing to help others in times of need. But for Sgt. Boney believes that being kind to others has anything likely to do in general for being a police officer. Sgt. Boney believes that many people do acts of kindness every day, but some just don’t get seen.
These police officers taught us that being kind is not dictated by our jobs. It is our willingness to help people who are in dire straits that matters most. The police officers also taught us that they are our friends that we should trust and we can rely on when we are in crisis, and helping others can make their day brighter and their burden lighter.
