Cindy Crawford’s Road To Success
With the Friends reunion coming, people are taking a new interest in the popular sitcom. One of the best parts is that the main cast members seemed to form a true and long-lasting friendship. But sadly, not everything is as it seems ... There was one star who recently opened up about working with Jennifer Aniston, and his comments were completely unexpected. Unfortunately, the actor revealed how difficult his scenes with Jen were—the rest of the crew even teased him for an upsetting reason!
The main cast on the show consisted of David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, and Matthew Perry. Over the years, new revelations have emerged about what it was truly like to work on the show. There were even some rumors about Perry's health at the time. However, one star recently confirmed what people suspected all along about Aniston, and it's not what you think.
Despite becoming the most beloved TV actress, not everyone had the same experience working with Aniston. It would be completely understandable if someone didn't enjoy their time filming with her. However, this actor's confession has shocked Friends fans because no one else in the cast and crew ever said anything—for an astonishing reason.
The actor who struggled to work with Jen was still a little boy at the time ... Yes, it was Cole Sprouse! The handsome actor recently appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show to discuss everything from Bridgerton to reuniting with his Big Daddy co-star, Adam Sandler. Aniston’s acting was one of the best aspects of Friends, but no one would believe that she was less-than-friendly to work with. What Sprouse told Drew Barrymore has stunned almost everyone!
Unfortunately, Ben’s character eventually disappeared after Season Eight. The show never explained what happened, and he didn’t get to meet his half-sister, Emma. Fans always wondered what happened ... There are even some shocking fan theories about the character. But now that Sprouse has opened up about his issues working with Jennifer, it finally makes sense—it’s the answer to an almost 20-year-old question!
Before Cole Sprouse finally opened up about his issue working on the sitcom, fans always wondered about Ben’s disappearance on the show. One Reddit user posted a theory explaining that Ross probably lost custody of his son because he was crazy. “So I've been thinking about this for a while, and I think Ross Geller lost custody of his son Ben in the later seasons of Friends. Ross's behavior gets weirder and weirder as the show progresses,” the now-deleted user wrote.
He tried to get a self-defense instructor to teach him how to scare women. He acted really weird with his cousin, played by Denise Richards. He was not the best boyfriend to Rachel, and he was even odd with their male nanny, played by Freddie Prince Jr. And those are just a few of his strangest situations.
Interestingly, the actor has talked about his own theory for Ben’s disappearance. During an interview with GQ Magazine, Sprouse said, “Critics would agree that Ross was never really the most present father, and so it doesn’t surprise me too much.” Luckily, the episodes with Ben were some of the best on the show.
Do you remember The One with the Holiday Armadillo? Ross couldn’t find a Santa costume in time for Christmas. So, he got an armadillo one and decided to teach Ben about his Jewish heritage and Hanukkah. Unfortunately, he gets hilariously interrupted by the rest of the cast several times, including Joey dressed as Superman and Chandler dressed as Santa.
In any case, disappearing from Friends didn’t affect his acting career. Cole and his twin brother, Dylan, became even more famous afterward. But they started at a young age. They appeared in TV commercials at just eight months old. Their first television appearance was in 1993 on Grace Under Fire, playing Patrick Kelly. The twins eventually got movie roles too!
Their first major role in a film was in 1999 on Adam Sandler’s Big Daddy. They played the foster kid of the comedian’s flaky character, and hilarity ensues. The movie was a hit that year, and it looked like the Sprouse twins’ career was only going up. But working with Sandler was one of the biggest honors of their life.
The actor also explained to Variety that Sandler saved his life when the fire alarm in the hotel the cast was using went off. "Adam Sandler carried me on his shoulder down 45 flights of stairs, which was really cute,” Sprouse revealed. Additionally, the twins apparently learned all kinds of swear words on the set and went to school with that new knowledge.
Many roles followed after that Sandler movie. They got a part in 2002’s The Master of Disguise, but their huge role would come afterward on the Disney Channel. They became worldwide child stars Zack and Cody from The Suite Life of Zack and & Cody, a show about two kids living in a hotel with their mom. They acted next to another big star.
The show was also the starting point of Ashley Tisdale, best known for her role as Sharpey Evans in High School Musical. Meanwhile, the twins’ series was one of the longest and most successful on the network. It eventually spawned a spin-off show called The Suite Life on Deck and a film. Dylan recently acknowledged its anniversary on Instagram.
In 2020, Dylan took to Instagram to celebrate the 15th anniversary of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, as its pilot episode premiered in March 2005. In a now-deleted post, the actor wrote, “It was so long ago that the cold open of the pilot episode was Cole searching for non-existent armpit hair on me.”
“We were both around 11 years old when we started filming,” Dylan added. “A lot had happened in our lives that was difficult then, and this show, in a way, saved us. A thousand years of gratitude to all involved. I love you all, and I’m glad this show can still give families the nostalgia they once had when watching it. I’ll keep those memories forever.”
Although he deleted the post, many fans appreciated the gesture. Dylan added a funny picture of one of the scenes where he and his brother get into trouble. But when the show ended in 2011, both of them were ready to give up acting altogether. Fate eventually pulled them back into the business.
The show was incredibly successful up to its end in 2011, but the twins decided to invest in their education and got spots at New York University. Cole majored in Archeology and took photographer lessons on the site. Meanwhile, Dylan got a degree in Video Game Design.
The twins graduated in 2015, and Dylan immersed himself in video games. He voice-acted for Total War: Warhammer II and Kingdom Hearts III. You might have also spotted him in several indie movies such as Banana Split and Tyger Tyger. However, Cole was set for a different path thanks to his degree.
Cole, who is 15 minutes younger than Dylan, focused on archaeology after graduating from NYU. He even got a job in Brooklyn when he received an acting opportunity. “And I got a call from my manager, who begged me to come back and audition for pilot season,” he told Variety. But he almost didn’t take the chance.
At the time, Sprouse told his manager that if this didn’t work, he was retiring from the business entirely. However, if he did book a gig, Cole would definitely honor the commitment. That’s how he got the part of Jughead Jones on The CW’s Riverdale, and it was a life-changer for him right away.
The characters on Riverdale are based on the iconic Archie Comics, and Robert Aguirre-Sacasa developed the show. It was an amazing opportunity for Sprouse, especially because of his love for comic books. He even worked at a store in Los Angeles called Meltdown, dedicated to selling comics.
Additionally, Sprouse loved going to comic-book conventions when he was younger. He has continued to attend but as one of the stars. However, the actor decided to take a look around the last time he went to a panel. According to Aguirre-Sacasa, Cole put on a mask and decided to walk around the convention. Surprisingly, people recognized him even with the disguise.
Interestingly, Cole did not want to play Jughead. He auditioned for the role of Archie, who is known for being an outsider. “I said this is a little bit more my style,” Sprouse told Variety. “And I just kind of read it like Rod Serling.” However, it was fate. Furthermore, the show is still going strong as fans wait for the rest of Season Five.
Obviously, being chosen as Jughead was much better. Fans that loved him since The Suite Life of Zack & Cody can enjoy their favorite star all grown up, while younger fans can get to know him. Meanwhile, Sprouse has a renewed excitement for acting and started making movies once the show took off.
You might remember him from 2019’ Five Feet Apart alongside Disney Channel star Hayley Lu Richardson. They play Will and Stella, two young lovers dealing with a complicated illness that keeps them apart. It might sound similar to another romance, but Cole’s fans still loved it.
Meanwhile, Cole has used his college education in a way. He is also working as a professional fashion photographer. You can take a look at his Instagram to see his work. Additionally, his agent is Glen Wassall, who also represents Annie Leibovitz. Wassall told Variety that most people don’t know Sprouse as an actor but as a photographer. Meanwhile, he answered all kinds of questions on The Drew Barrymore Show.
Barrymore brought up the subject of his ever-changing hairstyle. She asked him how he managed to attract so much attention online with his locks. The actor said, “I’m really glad that’s the auto-fit and not gross Sprouse feet. Or something disgusting. That seems pretty low-key in 2021. I’m glad it’s about hair.”
On the subject of hair, you could say that his style follows another popular show on Netflix, Bridgerton. Those period hairdos seem in vogue right now. The actor joked that he loves and hairstyling, but he was just flattered with Barrymore’s compliments. Meanwhile, Barrymore also asked him about tattoos.
There’s a tattoo trend from 2020 that many people followed: “stick-and-poke” tattoos. They are essentially DIY tattoos, and they became popular after the world shut down. The difference between them and regular tattoos is that it’s a manually-handled needle instead of a machine like you would in a shop.
When asked if he was interested in the trend or if he would be excited about the idea, the actor said, “I don’t know if the origin story sounds too good. You know, like, ‘Yeah, I got this tattoo because I was super bored, and I wanted to stick-and-poke my friends ..."
The actor explained that his father has many tattoos, and he always told Cole to think about getting ink for at least nine months. “Because that’s the time it takes to have a child, and that’s a life-long decision,” he added. Afterward, Barrymore told him that she once let Green Day’s Bille Joe Armstrong give her one of those tattoos.
The actress brought the upcoming reboot of HBO’s Sex and the City from the early 1990s. They got on the subject of Kim Cattrall’s notable absence from the upcoming new version. It’s hard to imagine the show without Samantha, and Barrymore wanted to know what Cole thought of a show without one of its main characters.
Unfortunately, Sprouse had no idea who Samantha was on the show. But he had several thoughts on reboots. “The original shows when they become successful sit within this golden little plate of nostalgia. And when you modernize it and go back to it, it has the potential to really disenfranchise the original fan base,” the actor said.
Naturally, they got on the subject of a possible reboot of The Suite Life with Zack & Cody. However, the actor made it clear that he would not participate even if it happened. It probably wouldn’t work with all the characters as adults, but Disney+ could still develop something interesting.
The talk show host moved on to the subject of Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit, which has helped popularize chess once again. “I know how to play,” Sprouse said. “But let’s be honest: it’s really cool to watch her play it on a Netflix show, you know? She makes it look fantastic. But when was the last time that you actually sat and played chess? It’s not the most exciting game.”
Unfortunately, the actor is a product of his time. He explained that they mostly grew up playing video games, and it’s such a different stimulation from chess than the complicated board game is not for him. Regardless, people are starting to play again, and that’s fantastic. Finally, they moved to the subject of his time on Friends.
Many people still remember him as Ross’ son, and Barrymore wanted to know several things. She asked him if the rumors of him having a hard time working on the show were true. Fan speculated for years that Cole had a huge crush on Jennifer Aniston, which made his scenes with her much harder.
Back in the late ‘90s-early 2000s, everyone had a crush on Rachel. While Sprouse might have been a child, he still thought she was pretty. “It actually made it quite difficult to work in front of her, I must admit. I was a child; I would stammer a lot and forget my lines,” he confessed to Barrymore.
“I feel like I’d maintain my composure a bit more effectively now,” the actor added, “But it was quite difficult when I was a kid. I was teased a little bit by the crew. Because they saw it, and I would forget and be like, staring at her. But then, the whole world had a crush on Jennifer Aniston.” Meanwhile, all Friends fans are looking forward to the reunion special!
HBO Max recently released the trailer for their upcoming Friends special, which features the original six cast members and some of the most beloved faces on the show. They also include some guest appearances from BTS, David Beckham, Justin Bieber, and more. Unfortunately, some rather important people will be absent. Who are they?
Christina Applegate played the role of Rachel’s sister, Amy Green. She appeared in several episodes over the years to stir up trouble and make viewers laugh. Sadly, she will not appear on the special, whereas Reese Witherspoon, who played Rachel’s other sister Jill, is on the list of appearances.
Monica’s most important ex-boyfriend was Richard, played by Tom Selleck. Of course, he is on the list of invitees. However, Jon Favreau played her billionaire ex-boyfriend, Pete Becker. They ended things when Peter became an ultimate fighter. Unfortunately, the Iron Man director will not show up.
It’s not surprising that Cole will not be attending the special either. Bringing him on the HBO Max reunion might make some fans angry as showrunners never addressed why Ben didn’t appear in the last few seasons. It would be amazing to see him with the rest of the cast, but it won’t happen.
However, the most astonishing absentee is Paul Rudd, who played Phoebe’s husband, Mike Hannigan. Rudd is one of the most beloved actors in the world, rising to huge stardom after being on the show. He is not listed as one of the guests, but fans hope for a surprise on May 27, 2021.
We’re looking forward to the Friends reunion, although we’re sad that Cole Sprouse won’t appear on the special. Let us know what you think of what the actor had to say about Aniston. If you liked this article, share it with your friends that loved the classic sitcom or Riverdale. See you next time!
