Donald Trump claims he looked like Elvis growing up, and fans react with thousands of comments

Donald Trump recently spoke in front of a crowd at a rally and revealed that people used to compare him to Elvis Presley when he was younger.

The President of the United States traveled to Tupelo, Mississippi, to campaign for Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith.

As it can be seen in a video shared by CNN, Trump said that he always took the comparison between him and the King of Rock and Roll as a compliment.

ADMIRATION FOR THE SINGER

Presley was born in Tupelo on January 8, 1935, in a shotgun-style house, so being a native of the small town, he is considered a true hero by its residents.

Knowing this, Trump talked quite a bit about Presley, whom he previously spoke highly of and considering that the superstar redefined music in the 50s and cinema in the 60s.

ALMOST 'TWINS'

During his speech, Trump said that, aside from the blond hair, people really used to believe that he looked just like the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.

As previously mentioned, the rally, which took place at an airport, was set up to help Hyde-Smith's campaign against her opponent, Democrat Mike Espy.

PUBLIC OUTRAGE

Unfortunately, the Republican couldn't keep the race civil and made a comment about how she was going to 'attend a public hanging,' which wasn't very well received.

Although her campaign dismissed her words, brushing them off as simply a 'joke,' people fought back and hung several nooses and signs outside the Mississippi State Capitol.

The signs referred to the lynching of a young black boy in 1955 for allegedly whistling at a white woman, as well as Willie Jones Jr., who was found hanging from a tree in front of his white girlfriend's house earlier this year.

Espy, who happens to be black, has come to public to say that he didn't link the nooses and the signs to Hyde-Smith because 'that'd be unfair.'
