After Watching 'Avengers: Endgame' We Are Bothered By A Number Of Things

The epic culmination of the first era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was finally released, and it was everything fans hoped for and more. Of course, after watching it a few times, people have come up with a list of questions that need to be addressed. There some serious plot holes, some unexplainable off-screen moments, and many confusing parts regarding time travel. Let’s find out everything fans want cleared up! Major spoiler warning!

25. CAPTAIN MARVEL FOUND TONY AND NEBULA

It was clear that Tony Stark and Nebula would be saved at some point early on in the film, otherwise, they would have died. Tony almost accepted that his fate, especially because the oxygen was about to run out, and Captain Marvel showed up to rescue them. However, some fans wondered how she knew where to find them or even who they were in the first place.

The post-credits scenes of ‘Captain Marvel’ is the only explanation, as it looks like a scene from ‘Avengers: Endgame’, although it never appeared in the film. Carol arrived on Earth, answering Nick Fury’s pager. Once there, she met Bruce, Steve, Natasha, and Rhodey. But, it is clear that she also met Pepper, who might have told her that Tony went to space to face Thanos. Maybe, she did get the messages Tony was trying to send, and they used those to track them.

24. CAPTAIN AMERICA GOT OLD

Seeing an old Steve Rogers at the end of the film was shocking, but not surprising if you paid attention to the scene where he was hiding in Margaret Carter’s office. The movie was set in the year 2023, five years after Thanos’ snap. It is important to remember that Captain America was only young because he went into ice in 1945 and was woken 70 years later as seen in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’.

However, once things with Thanos were done, he had to return the Infinity Stones to their times, and then, he traveled to 1945 to stay with Peggy. Some argue that he went to the 70s just like the scene where they steal the Tesseract from the army base, but the cars suggest that it was an earlier era. After all, at some point in the film, Cap did say that he left the love of his life in 1945.

The issue here is that, in the comics, Steve does not age because of the Super Serum. He got older when a villain took it out of him in a story arc. But, he could have asked Howard Stark to do something about his age so that he could grow old with his wife.

23. HAWKEYE MADE A LOT OF ENEMIES

After the disappearance of his family, Clint Barton became the insane ninja vigilante, Ronin. He slaughtered cartels and yakuzas all over the world. This means that he made a lot of people very angry. However, after everything was fixed, he returned home to his family. Does that mean that everything he did went away? His family could be in danger of retaliation.

This is something that will probably be important in the Disney+ series about him, and it also feeds into the theories that his daughter Lila could become the new Hawkeye.

22. PEOPLE DID NOT GO TO SCHOOL IN FIVE YEARS

At the end of the film, the year 2023, Peter Parker and a bunch of kids returned to school. His friend, Ned, saw him and became emotional, which suggested that he did not suffer from the Decimation and missed his friend. However, five years went by after Thanos’ snap. Does that mean that people did no go to school? Ned should have graduated and started college.

For Peter, it makes sense because he came back just as he had left. None of the characters that turned to dust aged during that time. But, that is not the case for the rest of the people. ´Spider-Man: Far From Home’ takes place just after ‘Endgame’, and it seems like Peter should be studying with kids that were way younger when he disappeared.

21. NO ONE DIED AFTER THE COLLAPSE OF THE AVENGERS COMPOUND

2014 Thanos got to the future and rained fire down at the headquarters right after Hulk had snapped his fingers to bring back those lost. The building collapsed on itself, and even Rocket, Rhodey, Hulk and Ant-Man got stuck underground. However, none of them were severely injured in that accident, and it was a little odd.

20. TIME TRAVEL IS WEIRD IN THIS FILM

Most fans of the MCU are not quantum physics experts, but the time traveling part was a bit more confusing than other films like ‘Back To The Future’. Newsweek had some scientists actually explain this aspect of the film, and they said that ‘Endgame’ did a great job at trying to describe what they currently understand as time travel.

Unfortunately, ‘Endgame’ described time travel a bit too quickly, and there was no time to truly understand it. Therefore, fans just had to accept everything. The important thing, though, is that Bruce Banner said that changing the past does not change the future, and they needed to return the stones to the exact point they were stolen to avoid making alternate realities – the Many Worlds Theory - like he discussed with the Ancient One.

19. DECIDING WHEN IN TIME TO GET THE STONES

The Infinity Stones appeared many times in the past of most of the characters; so, they needed to decide when in time to go back and get them. However, it is a little weird that they returned to difficult moments when they could have picked better points. Instead of taking the Aether from Jane, they could have taken it from the Collector after they gave it to him at the end of ‘Thor: The Dark World’.

Additionally, they could have taken the Tesseract from Asgard where it was kept after 2012’s ‘Avengers’ in Odin’s vault. Also, the Power Stone in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ was given to the Nova Corps on Xandar, and Rocket was there. Of course, they needed tricky moments to make the film interesting, but they should have thought about it more.

18. PRESENT NEBULA DID NOT DIE WHEN 2014 NEBULA WAS SHOT

Most of ‘Endgame’ happens in 2023, five years after ‘Infinity War’. 2014 Thanos and his Black Order, including Nebula, came to the future to take the stones from the Avengers and kill them. 2023 Nebula had to kill 2014 Nebula because she was about to give her father the gauntlet. However, if she killed her past self, why didn’t she die?

That probably has a lot to do with Bruce Banner’s explanation of how quantum physics and time travel works. Changing the past does not change the future. However, it is hard to understand why she remained alive.

17. GAMORA IS BACK BUT NOT BLACK WIDOW

Time traveling is really complicated, but Natasha and Clint went for the Soul Stone, and she sacrificed herself to get it. Red Skull explained that the promise of a soul for a soul was unbreakable. Therefore, they cannot bring back Natasha, and Clint even had to yell at Thor to make him understand it. But, Gamora was killed by Thanos in ‘Infinity War’ to obtain the stone as well.

However, she returned as 2014 Gamora, who had never met Quill and the guardians. She did not join them for the ending scenes, but it was assumed that she stayed behind as the portal was destroyed during the battle. If a past version of herself can remain in the future, they could do something similar with a past version of Natasha.

But, Bruce Banner said that there was no way, as he even tried using the stones to bring her back. As the Ancient One said, they had to return the stones to their proper timelines or they would open up some nasty, alternate realities. If they tried bringing Natasha to the future, something similar could happen.

16. THEY JUST RETURNED THE STONES EASILY

At the end of the film, Captain America has all the stones, and he has to return them to their exact moments. However, he goes alone, and everything goes smoothly. Wouldn’t there be some problems? Some encounters with other versions of himself?

Also, it seems a bit weird that he was just able to put the Aether back into Jane. It would be interesting to see him actually returning the stones and going back to Peggy.

15. WHAT ABOUT THE SOUL STONE?

The Soul Stone is the most mysterious gem of all six. Natasha died for it, and Red Skull said the promise was unbreakable. Therefore, how did Captain America returned the stone? Did he hand it to Red Skull? Shouldn’t he have traded a soul for a soul as well? Maybe he did, and no one knows about it yet.

14. THE PYM PARTICLES

One of the main points of the film was that they only had a few Pym Particles for time travel. Specifically, each had enough for a round trip. In 2012, Tony and Ant-Man lost the Tesseract, and then, Tony goes back with Cap to 1970.

However, they could have stayed in 2012 and gone to Hank Pym to ask for more. Of course, he might have been reluctant to give Iron Man anything because of the animosity between them.

13. THE MISSING PEOPLE

The film featured many characters from the entire MCU, but there were a few notable exceptions. Ant-Man’s friend, Luis, was not there, nor his ex-wife, Maggie. But more importantly, Sharon Carter was gone and Vision. Some people thought Luis would be the one to bring back Scott from the Quantum Realm if he did not turn to dust.

On the other hand, the romantic scene in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ was unnecessary if Sharon was not going to appear again. Also, Tony could have tried to rebuild Vision. If he solved time travel, then bringing Vision back without a stone should have been a breeze for him. Another issue is that Cassie seemed to be alone in the world after the snap. Where was her mom? We might never get those answers, though.

12. NO KORATH

In ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, Peter Quill got the Power Stone in Morag, but he encountered Korath, who also appeared in ‘Captain Marvel’. However, Korath never met with Rhodey and Nebula when they got the Power Stone.

11. 2014 NEBULA AND 2023 NEBULA MEMORY SYNC

When 2023 Nebula went for the Power Stone, her memories interlocked with 2014 Nebula, and Thanos was able to see the future. How did that happen? It seems that Nebula is more machine than a living being and that her consciousness is stored in some sort of cloud. It makes us think about an Itunes account, and how you can buy a new iPad and sync your files.

10. THEY FORGOT ABOUT PROJECT PEGASUS

‘Captain Marvel’ set up the story of the Kree Mar-Vell who was building a light-speed engine with the Tesseract. It seems like they could have used it for time travel or something. However, it was never mentioned in ‘Endgame’.

9. 2012 LOKI STOLE THE TESSERACT

Tony Stark and Ant-Man screwed up in 2012, and Loki ended up stealing the Tesseract and disappearing. In the original version, he was taken to Asgard, and the cube was kept in Odin’s vault. However, it seems that they changed this timeline. Cap and Tony went to the 70s for the Space Stone, which means that Steve returned it in that era.

However, Loki’s timeline was still changed. Where did he go? Does that mean that he lived? This is definitely something to look forward to on the Disney+ series about him.

8. THE GUARDIANS' FATE

At the end of the film, Thor joined the Guardians of the Galaxy for a new mission. This seems to indicate that he is a new member of the team. Will he be in Volume 3? Will there be a next ‘Thor’ film? The way his character changed in ‘Ragnarok’ and ‘Endgame’ definitely made him a perfect addition to the quirky group.

7. WHERE IS GAMORA?

2014 Gamora came to 2023 with Thanos and the Black Order. She switched sides, of course, and fought in that battle. However, where did she go after that? Nebula told her about her future and their friends, but she was not with them. It is possible that she got out of there as soon as possible, and the plot of the third ‘Guardians’ film could be Quill trying to find her and winning her back.

Another option is that Gamora vanished with the rest of Thanos’ army. After all, we do not know exactly what Tony thought before snapping his fingers. She was technically part of his group. He never met Gamora. He might have wished for the bad guys or those in the wrong timeline to vanish, but there is no telling yet.

6. THE FUTURE OF THE HULK

The only original Avenger truly remaining on Earth is Bruce Banner. Tony died, Captain America is old, Clint retired, Thor went with the Guardians, and Natasha died as well. Could Hulk join other superheroes for future missions or will he slowly fade away as well? He could help out Peter in some situations or even spend time with Doctor Strange at the Sanctum Sanctorum.

He has already gone there twice, and it might be his destiny to join Strange. If Mordo still alive, the sorcerer will need help.

5. THE ANCIENT ONE SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE HULK COMING

The interaction between Bruce and the Ancient One was pretty interesting, but she should have seen him coming and known what to expect, right? She can see things no one else can. However, she was only convinced by Bruce’s plan when he told her that Strange had willingly given the stone.

4. BLACK WIDOW’S FATHER

During the heartbreaking scene on Vormir, Red Skull said, “Natasha, daughter of Ivan.” Her past has only been mentioned briefly in the MCU. The only thing fans truly know is that she did a lot of bad things, and she was trying to make up for them. That is clearly something to address in the ‘Black Widow’ movie.

3. HER MOVIE HAS TO BE A PREQUEL

‘Endgame’ made it clear that Black Widow cannot return. Therefore, the upcoming film about her has to be an origin story. Her past should be very intriguing, but watching the movie knowing that she will die in sacrifice will be bittersweet.

2. BUDAPEST

Over the course of the MCU, Clint and Natasha have mentioned a dark past together, and something that happened in Budapest. Clearly, whatever it was forged their close friendship. They mentioned it once again during ‘Endgame’. What could it be? We just hope that they explain it in her film, and maybe, mention why those two never got together.

1. THE QUANTUM REALM

Just as many theories suggested, the Quantum Realm was vital in this film. However, it seemed to work differently for Janet van Dyne and Scott Lang. Lang was there for five years but said that it was like five hours. Janet, on the other hand, was there for 30 years, and she aged accordingly, apparently. What happened? We hope the next ‘Ant-Man’ film tries to explain that anomaly.

Despite the question marks and the inconsistencies, ‘Endgame’ was a perfect ending to 11 years of films. Thank you, Avengers. Let us know what you thought of the movie. If you liked this article, share it with your friends who cried like babies at the theater. See you next time!
