A Mother's Intuition Kay's daughter, Heidi, had a happy childhood. They went vacationing regularly, and everything was coming up Milhouse. Eventually, Heidi got into college at the University of Newcastle, and decided to pursue a double degree in Economics and Management. Heidi was living with a group of BFFs but eventually moved into an apartment of her own. When she handed over the keys to the new tenants to her old apartment, fate would have it that she met someone who would become an important part of her life. The Fateful Meeting Of course, each party was eager to be done with the old and to get into their new place, so they never exchanged numbers or even names! But fate would bring them together again when one of the guys couldn't figure out how to work her old washing machine. Heidi's old landlord passed her number on to the stranger, but the machine was a real pain, so she headed on down to her old place to help him figure it out. Washing Machine Troubles The man apologized for having dragged her all the way out, and after sorting out the machine, he offered her a coffee. They got talking, and realized that they had a lot in common! His name was Ed Savitt, and he too studied at Newcastle University, although his degree was in psychology and business. They decided that they quite liked each other, and one date turned into two, which turned into three... So Much in Common Heidi told her mother about her new friend, and Kay was excited that her daughter had someone new in her life. But she knew that Heidi was the kind of person to get attached quickly, and was apprehensive. Regardless of Kay's reservations, Heidi and Ed continued to date, and things got serious. They loved sports, especially hiking and skiing, and hated the arts. Meet the Parents Heidi and Ed went public with their relationship, and after a year had gone by, they decided to chase their dreams together. The lovebirds moved in together and introduced each other to their respective families. Heidi's mom Kay, and Ed's mom Fiona got together at the couple's new apartment, and everyone got along super well. An Unusual Holiday Both mothers were ecstatic. Finally, their children had found love and happiness! Fiona and Kay also had quite a bit in common. They loved sailing, especially on the Mediterranean Sea. But what they were about to learn next would blow everyone right out of the water. When Heidi was just in elementary school, the family went to Gumbet, in Turkey, where Heidi found an adorable little boy who seemed to like her quite a bit. Ed, Edd, and Eddy They called each other boyfriend and girlfriend, even though they were only six years old. Ed didn't like it one bit, particularly because the young boy had also been called Ed. Nonetheless, the couple spilled to their mothers that they were planning to be engaged by the end of the year. Storage Unit Secrets But Kay felt strange about the story that had been told at the dinner party and did a little research of her own. Fiona got involved too, and it became a pet project for the two mothers. One day, Kay decided to help out by cleaning out the family storage unit, and what she found in there would answer many questions indeed... An Unusual Vacay She found the images from the family vacation. What od do you think she found? Well, it turns out that the vacation Ed that Heidi had become friends nearly twenty years ago was the very same Ed that she was about to marry! How on earth was that possible? The more she looked at the photos, the more disbelief Kay felt. She had to tell everyone as soon as she could! Childhood Sweethearts But before telling Ed and Heidi, she sent everything to Fiona. As soon as she saw the photos, she knew it was her son. Of course, as far as Ed and Heidi knew, they had met each other for the very first time when Heidi handed Ed her keys to the old apartment. Both mothers were very excited to share the news with their children. But what would they think? Holiday Romance Would they be weirded out, or would they welcome the news with open arms? It turns out that neither mother had anything to worry about. Kay's intuition had been right all along. “It absolutely blows my mind that we could have never found out that we first knew each other all those years ago,” Heidi said. Isn't it incredible that the attraction remained mutual even after so many years? What Would Fiona Think? For Ed and Heidi, the discovery was kind of like a confirmation that they were meant to be together. It was totally a sign! But before this discovery, Heidi hadn't believed in such things as fate. “I didn’t believe in fate before finding that out, but there’s no arguing with it – we’re clearly meant to be together,” Heidi said. The revelation changed her mind about destiny forever. Meant to Be But Kay believes that they knew subconsciously all along. Heidi and Ed didn't think quite as deeply about it, but they did acknowledge it as a sign that they were doing the right thing. “From the moment we started dating we were inseparable and knew we were going to be together forever,” said Heidi in an interview. And in 2017, they were finally wed, in Derbyshire. A Night to Remember Their wedding took place at Haddon Hall, where the reception after the ceremony went into the wee hours of the night.
