"I know many of you have seen the news about Jon and me," Summer began. "I wanted to acknowledge it here beyond the joint statement we put out. This has been a very difficult and deeply personal time for our family."

"While so much of our life is shared online, there are parts of it that I'll always choose to keep private, especially something as difficult as this," she continued. "I'm so grateful for the kindness, prayers and support so many of you have already shown us. It truly means more than you know."

She added, "I will continue showing up on here and sharing links and parts of my life with you, like I always have. This space is part of my work, but it's also a place that brings me joy, connecting with so many of you. Again, thank you for all of the love and support for our family."

Summer wrapped up her message with a white heart emoji. Her post came just days after she and Jon, 41, revealed their separation through a joint statement shared on Instagram. "After much thought, we have made the difficult decision to end our marriage," the pair wrote on July 3.

"Our daughters will always remain our highest priority and we are committed to moving forward with love and respect as coparents. Thank you for your understanding, support and respect as we navigate these changes as a family," the statement continued.

Jon and Summer tied the knot in 2020 and later welcomed two daughters together, Presley, 3, and Sienna, 23 months. Their public announcement, however, arrived two months after Summer had already filed for divorce behind the scenes.

Court documents obtained by Us Weekly show that she submitted her filing in Tennessee on May 12, citing irreconcilable differences. According to the paperwork, the couple had separated earlier that same month.

Not long after the split became public, a source close to the situation shared that the pair had been struggling for some time before things ultimately fell apart. The insider claimed Summer had grown "fed up" with Jon.

"They've been having major issues since last year. They all but separated right before the holidays [in December] and even unfollowed each other on Instagram," the source revealed, noting that the two later refollowed one another as they attempted to mend things.

Despite her efforts, Summer eventually decided to move on for good. "They tried to work it out for their kids," the insider explained, "but ultimately couldn't, so she filed for divorce."

Among the requests outlined in her filing, Summer is asking the court to name her the "primary residential parent" for Presley and Sienna, should she and Jon fail to reach a mutual parenting agreement.

She is also seeking an equitable split of the couple's shared assets, along with the return of "all of her separate property," and has requested alimony from her estranged husband.

"[Summer] would show that she is in need of spousal support, including but not limited to pendente lite and permanent," the documents state, further alleging that Jon "has the ability to pay."
