Ariana Grande Is ‘Committed’ to Promoting ‘Focker-in-Law’ Ahead of Planned Break

Just weeks after announcing she's pulling back from public life, Ariana Grande isn't disappearing completely. The singer-actress has a few professional obligations left to check off before she fully steps away.

Ariana Grande is still fulfilling work commitments ahead of her planned hiatus. The "Thank You, Next" singer is slated to appear in the upcoming comedy flick "Focker-in-Law," opposite Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller.

According to a source, the actress-musician, who recently wrapped her Eternal Sunshine Tour, remains "committed" to promoting the film this fall, which she is said to be "very proud" of. She will also continue to support her brand work throughout the break.

"Focker-in-Law," Universal Pictures' fourth installment in the comedy franchise that began with 2000's "Meet the Parents," is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 25. Grande, along with Skyler Gisondo and Beanie Feldstein, joins returning cast members Blythe Danner, Teri Polo, De Niro, and Stiller.

Grande announced early last month that she would be stepping back from visibility after concluding her Eternal Sunshine Tour.

"She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny," a representative for the singer said in a statement.

"This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much," the rep added.

A source close to Grande also told People, "She performs a very physical show, and there is a lot of athleticism involved. She performs healthily and successfully at a very high level night after night."

The following day, the "Wicked" Oscar nominee addressed the announcement during a show in Chicago with a written speech.

"Sometimes, when a story comes out that's not directly from me, things can get a little blown out of proportion," she explained. "So, I just wanted to speak to my fans directly tonight because I love you so much."

She added that she simply wanted to set the record straight. "The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing. It is something that I had decided to plan," Grande said, noting that she made the plan "quietly, a long time ago."

She went on to push back on the idea that "negativity" was "ruining things" for her. She continued, "Multiple things can be true at once. Boundaries, they need to be set. And we need a break sometimes."

"And also, this can be, and will continue to be, the greatest experience of my professional life," she said of the tour. "[...] No matter what noises exist out there, nothing will be able to distort my reality or be more real to me or not as real to me as this love that we share."

As she wrapped up her speech, Grande described her Eternal Sunshine Tour as "one of the most healing, beautiful, correct and special experiences" of her life. "That felt good," she said before resuming the show. "I wish that words were enough to articulate how much I love you."

Ahead of the hiatus announcement and her live address, Grande had already sparked widespread concern — and, unfortunately, body-shaming — over her weight loss, a discussion intensified by her "Petal" music video.

Her tour concluded on Tuesday, September 1, at London's The O2 after 41 shows spanning 10 cities and more than 630,000 tickets sold. It coincided with the July release of her latest album, "Petal."
