"It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," the Osbourne family announced at the time in a written statement to multiple outlets.
"He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

His death came shortly after his farewell concert in his hometown of Birmingham, England, where he took the stage one final time alongside his Black Sabbath bandmates at the Back to the Beginning festival.
It was during that same event that the beloved Prince of Darkness watched his daughter Kelly Osbourne get engaged to her then-partner Sid Wilson.

During his headlining set, Osbourne performed a five-song solo lineup, including the classics "Mr. Crowley" and "Crazy Train," before reuniting with original Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for four additional songs to close out the night.
According to Billboard, the concert raised more than $190 million, with proceeds split evenly among Birmingham Children's Hospital, Acorn Children's Hospice, and Cure Parkinson's, an organization devoted to finding a cure for the disease Ozzy had lived with since 2019.

In a May interview with The Guardian, Ozzy revealed that the concert had been Sharon's idea, calling it "something to give me a reason to get up in the morning." Months later, in September 2025, Sharon broke her silence for the first time since his passing, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support she'd received.
"I'm still having trouble finding the words to express how grateful I am for the overwhelming love and support you've shown on social media. Your comments, posts and tributes have brought me more comfort than you know," Sharon wrote on Instagram on September 12, 2025, alongside a video showing her and daughter Kelly spending time with an owl.

"Though I'm still finding my footing, I wanted to share some glorious creatures I had the chance to spend an afternoon with," she continued.
"The connection you make with these powerful birds is built entirely on trust and confidence. They'll choose to perch on you only if they sense you are safe and unafraid of them. It's a bond I know all too well, and the experience was nothing short of magical."
Sharon concluded, "I love you all, and I thank you deeply for the otherworldly amount of love you continue to send my way."
