Princess Eugenie made her first public appearance since announcing her third pregnancy, stepping out in London — and the internet couldn't stop talking about it.

Princess Eugenie, 36, has been largely out of the public eye since sharing the joyful — and for some, surprising — news of her third pregnancy. But on Wednesday, May 6, the royal stepped out onto the streets of London, and the paparazzi were waiting.

Eugenie cut a relaxed, decidedly un-royal figure as she strode confidently along the pavement, cradling her phone and keeping her head down behind a pair of dark aviator sunglasses.

She wore a sleek black maxi dress that hugged her growing belly, layered under an oversized cream-coloured sherpa bomber jacket. A gold pendant necklace and a slouchy black shoulder bag completed the look. On her feet were a pair of dark Nike trainers.

It was her first public sighting since she and husband Jack Brooksbank announced they were expecting baby number three.

The Hello! Magazine Instagram post sharing the photos drew hundreds of comments — and the reaction was, to put it politely, divided. A significant number of followers zeroed in on the magazine's use of the word "glowing" to describe Eugenie.

"Hardly glowing!!! She looks miserable," one commenter scoffed bluntly. "Not a very flattering look," another chimed in, offering little in the way of sympathy.

A third went further, musing pointedly, "Glowing...hardly. She looks like she's struck hard times."

And then there was this vivid take, delivered with a kind of reluctant fondness: "Doesn't look like a glowing person to me looks fed up maybe thinking what shell I make for tea I can't be bothered I feel like crap [sic]," one netizen wrote.

The criticism wasn't lost on others, who pushed back with considerably more warmth.

"Hope despite all the stress she has been under that she is enjoying her pregnancy. Good to see her wearing comfy clothes - can be tough when expecting," one supportive follower offered gently.

Another rallied firmly to the princess's defence, adding, "I think she looks fine considering she is due in a few months and the stress she has had this past year. It cannot have been easy and I wish her a healthy delivery."

Whether she looked glowing or not, she looked like someone doing the work. And for many fans, that was more than enough. Because two days earlier, she had already given the world everything it needed.

She posted ten hearts, one baby emoji, and a photo that told the whole story before anyone could even ask. Now, royal fans have been sent into a flurry of joy by Princess Eugenie's latest Instagram — and this time, the news is quite exciting, as the images below show.

Princess Eugenie, 36, is expecting her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank, she confirmed, with the baby due this summer.

The announcement arrived alongside an image from the princess's own Instagram: her two young sons crouched together on a garden path, heads bent over an ultrasound print.

Eugenie paired the image with a caption that needed nothing more:

"Baby Brooksbank due 2026! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️👶🏻♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️"

In the photo, August, five, holds the scan in both hands while his little brother Ernest, in a blue Nike tracksuit, leans in close beside him.

The two boys are framed by a white fence and green hedging, entirely absorbed in the small black-and-white image between them. It is a simple composition, but one that quietly captures the scale of the moment.

In addition to Eugenie's announcement, Buckingham Palace's full statement confirmed:

"Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer. August (aged 5) and Ernest (aged 2) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family. His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news."

This will be the couple's third child together. August Philip Hawke Brooksbank was born on 9 February 2021, while his younger brother, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, turns three on 30 May. The announcement marks another step in the couple’s growing family, now preparing to welcome a fifth member.

The news was met with an outpouring of warmth from royal followers, many of whom admitted they had seen it coming.

"That was rather obvious in the recent pictures of her. Congratulations to the happy parents!" one fan wrote, combining recognition with celebration.

Another was equally unsurprised, "Obvious from photos last week but congratulations," reflecting a similar mix of anticipation and well wishes.

The wider family was on fans' minds too. "How very nice to hear....Fergie and Prince Andrew will be over the moon," one follower noted, shifting the focus beyond the couple themselves.

One comment carried a wry edge, "Ahh, it will be lovely for all of the family to gather at the christening. Oh wait…." a remark that stood slightly apart from the otherwise celebratory tone.

Most reactions, however, remained firmly positive, centering on the news itself and the image that accompanied it — a quiet, personal way of sharing what is, for the family, a significant milestone.

For now, that image continues to hold the focus: two little brothers in a sunlit garden, looking down at their new sibling’s first picture, unaware of the attention it has drawn.
