Marvel Reveals First Look at Doctor Doom in New ‘Avengers:Doomsday’ Trailer — Video

The long-awaited trailer dropped with a flood of returning heroes, surprise crossovers, and one seriously menacing new villain. Within a single day, it had already racked up eye-popping numbers across social media.

Marvel has finally dropped the official trailer for "Avengers: Doomsday," and the internet has responded with nothing short of a meltdown.

Fans are flooding social media with excitement over the upcoming blockbuster, which offers the first real look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe's newest villain, Doctor Doom.

Robert Downey Jr. takes on the role, marking his first Marvel appearance since "Avengers: Endgame." The character was initially unveiled to CinemaCon attendees back in April.

According to Marvel, the film "follows beloved heroes from three distinct universes as they're set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they've ever encountered."

In "Endgame," Iron Man (Downey Jr.) sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos (Josh Brolin) and save the universe. Now Downey Jr. is making his comeback — though not in his original, iconic role.

Specifics about his turn as Doctor Doom remain largely under wraps, but all signs point to Doom being a variant of Iron Man pulled from an alternate universe. He previously made a brief, face-obscured cameo in the post-credits scene of "Fantastic Four: First Steps."

The roster of heroes is stacked.

The Fantastic Four make their appearance with Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

The Thunderbolts are also along for the ride, with Sebastian Stan reprising Bucky Barnes, alongside Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, David Harbour's Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell's U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko's Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen's Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus's Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Lewis Pullman's Bob.

That's far from the whole picture, though. The trailer teases even more jaw-dropping reunions, including several of Fox's "X-Men" characters — Professor Xavier, Magneto, Mystique, and Cyclops — plus Channing Tatum's Gambit, last seen in "Deadpool and Wolverine."

Chris Evans's Captain America links back up with Chris Hemsworth's Thor as the pair square off against Doctor Doom alongside a packed lineup of allies.

Fans can expect to see Anthony Mackie's Captain America, Danny Ramirez's Falcon, Paul Rudd's Ant-Man, Tom Hiddleston's Loki, Letitia Wright's Black Panther, Winston Duke's M'Baku, Simu Liu's Shang-Chi, and Tenoch Huerta's Namor.

Every one of these characters shows up in the footage, and in under 24 hours, the trailer had already pulled in more than 100 million views across social platforms. Needless to say, fans are thrilled.

"Ayeeeee I'm so exciteddddd🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾," one person cheered, while another added, "This is gonna be EPIC❤️🔥." A third quipped, "This is the first time I've felt something in months." The reactions haven't let up.

Word of "Avengers: Doomsday" first broke two years ago, in July 2024, and Disney has since rolled out four teasers tied to screenings of "Avatar: Fire and Ash" in late 2025 and early this year.

The first confirmed Evans's return as Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, who now has a child. The second showed Hemsworth's Thor alongside his adopted daughter, Love.

The third gave fans their first glimpse of Stewart's Professor X, McKellen's Magneto, and Marsden's Cyclops. The fourth featured Wright's Black Panther, Huerta's Namor, and Duke's M'Baku meeting Moss-Bachrach's Thing in Wakanda.
